Fraudsters. . . , Not So Fast!
Unfortunately, many members have been getting calls again from fraudsters claiming they are from the credit union. This is happening to members and customers of almost every financial institution these days. While the Feds try to figure out how thwart these criminals, there are a few failsafe steps you can take to protect yourself and your accounts.
- If you get a call that you think is from us, or claiming to be from us, either don’t answer or hang up and call us back at 401-739-4600 or 866-739-9121. Our number is always on our homepage greenwoodcu.org as well.
- Never give out or confirm debit card, online banking or bank account information. We will never ask you for passwords or user IDs. If you call us at our real number, we may ask for personal information to verify your identity, but we will never call you and ask you these questions.
- If it sounds odd, it is! There is no such thing as transferring or Zelle-ing money to yourself to fix a problem. Hang up and call us back at the number you have for us – DO NOT call back the number that just called you!
